Spider-Shirt

Little boy, with your eyes so true-
Remembered for the things you do,
Your story forgotten by fools!
Growing old in a Spider-Man t-shirt,
Your picture tells me why.
But the question still sleeps in your eye
You’re not dying for me.
But I’ll listen to you
When you throw a BOOM behind my back.
My head explodes with fear.
Jon will take the beating to his ear
When you SHOUT
with a bomb inside your mouth
To a world with bleeding ears-
in hopes that they can hear clear.
“I am dying for you!
Are you listening, you?”
Spider-Man’s playing at the mall tonight-
(Just don’t buy the t-shirt)

Fall.E

This is my last day before I fall.
I’ll leave my life behind in a futureless flight.
When he commands it’s time for me to genuflect
Before this man- creation that I must adore
Oh, I won’t bend a knee!
I’d rather fall.
I used to be like you; I lived in Paradise,
Complacent to the path, the perfect life
Then I saw the tree’s design-
To taste the fruit of “Wrong and Right”
The truth would fill your empty mind.
Just have yourself a bite!
You will fall.
You. You can be Kings in your own walls,
And none of your mistakes- they won’t be punished at all
The Morning Star has come to you
The Sun will rise again renewed
The truth will shine with a different light!
Just never blink an eye.
And we won’t fall (when we’re already fallen)
No! We won’t fall!

Hajj Sami

Do you recall the mountain breeze
When Sami stood tall against the tree,
The very last day upon his feet,
Gazing into Jordan?
Yet on that night within our streets,
When your men stayed to fall asleep,
And they awoke to find that we
Hadn't cut their beards away.
But they keep burning, burning, burning the Road.
Well then your men,
Well they decreed,
It's time for all of us to leave-
We all sighed, the children cried.
Our village turned their heads away.
As we slumped and dragged our feet.
The paralyzed man,
He kept his seat.
Keeping close to his heart
The bullet gift you gave to him.
But Sami keeps rolling, rolling, rolling, Home.
And Father’s thanking God
That his bricks aren't dust.
And Mother has a place for Ramadan,
A place to fast for Ramadan.
And we're not going to fall when Sami's rolling.
A place to fast for Ramadan
Sami keeps rolling, rolling, rolling, Home.

Buckwheat
04:02
|
|||
In the morning, she’s laying by the fireside
In the evening, she’s doing the same
Her mind is filled with such adventure
As she hums her quiet song
It’s been a year since the buckwheat stopped growing
In the place I call “Home”
When I settle and plant myself a garden,
There’ll be buckwheat there to sow.
When we were young, we’d run through the meadows.
The leaves would stick to our hair and in our clothes.
But now only in a few old dusty pockets,
can a wrinkled leaf be found.
It’s been a year since the buckwheat stopped growing
In the place I call “Home”
When I settle and plant myself a garden,
There’ll be buckwheat there to sow.
Did you know the day you stole from me,
The day your crime went through-
Did you know that when you’d take from me-
Did you know you’d take her too?
This time next year, the buckwheat will be growing
When I find myself a home.
When I settle and plant myself a garden,
There’ll be buckwheat there to sow.
